What a magical, romantic place Grand Central Station is. It is nothing like its smelly, rundown counterpart that is the delightful Penn Station (which I have the pleasure of arriving into every time I take the train up from DC). Common in many films and tv shows as the glamorous backdrop to dramatic goodbyes and emotional arrivals (ala Gossip Girl), I was surprised to find that the historic train station was actually more lovely in person.
I also kind of loved the fact that it's basically smack in the middle of Park Avenue. It truly is grand when you look down the avenue and see this beautiful station at the end of it. Not a common sight in the big city, but quite enchanting nonetheless.
Sidenote: Have I told you how much I LOVE trains?! Since I've become more anxious as I've grown older about flying (which makes no sense), I prefer the train method above all, plus it's so easy to travel around the Northeast this way. I would literally take them everywhere if I could. LITERALLY.
Do you like to travel by trains?
(Do I sound like a 4 year old boy talking about trains??)
Choo-choo!

I'm so glad that on MOST occasions, when I travel, I travel out of Grand Central...you're right, Penn is SO nasty!
I actually really love travelling by train. They have an old world charm that you just don't find with other forms of travel. I'd love to travel on the Orient Express someday!
I LOVE taking the train. It's so much more laid back than flying. There's no security, you show up a few minutes before your departure, it's cheaper than flying, you pack your own snacks (often alcoholic beverages too), and feel somehow transported back in time while strolling through the glamorous Grand Central. The scenery is amazing and you can walk around during your trip without getting eyed by a flight attendant. You've got me wanting to go on a trip now!
If you're looking for a good trip, the train ride to Montreal (while insanely long) is beyond GORGEOUS! Do it!
I mean they are the BEST. And I'm so happy your brought that up about the Montreal train! I've been wanting to do that - and may have to plan a trip this fall. I'm sure it goes by a lot faster when you pack a few snacks or beverages (as you mentioned) ;)
I know! My dream train would be the Hogwarts Express. Mature, I know.
Ditto!
