FAST FOOD

Mr. LBV was in town for a summer clerkship interview this week so luckily between sleeping and working, I had some pretty marvelous meals that ensured my hourly bootcamp sessions did absolutely nothing for improving my figure. sigh. I guess there's always next week...

Meal #1: 2Amys

As demanded by my DC guest, we hit up 2Amy's once again. It's his favorite spot when he comes to town, and I simply cannot deny the man. While the magherita pizza is his favorite, I'm a huge fan of any meat and cheese plate, especially when it's a meat, cheese, AND bread plate - bonus!!

Meal #2: Le Bon Cafe

I have been anxiously waiting to try this Capitol Hill favorite, and I finally got my wish! This teeny-tiny cafe (I'm talking 5 bitty tables tiny) has a delicious and endless array of sandwiches, paninis, and quiches. Although it was a bit of a walk for me from work (and in the rain...), the sandwich warmed my shivery soul and got me through the rest of an otherwise dreary Tuesday.

Ever since moving to DC, I have walked past this restaurant on a weekly basis, wondering what this place is where the waitresses wear authentic German dirndls (yes, I looked this up) and old folk music makes it way to the sidewalks. Luckily, having a hungry man with me this week meant I had the excuse to finally try this place out and see what all this German hullabaloo was about. Although we may have been the only people under the age of 55, I could not have been more content with weiner schnitzel galore and enough meat and potatoes to feed a small football team. And yes, I may have to buy one of those dirndls for next year's Halloween costume (and no, not the slutty kind).

Meal #4: Sprig&Sprout

This new neighborhood gem is what encouraged me to try Vietnamese pho in the first place, and don't even get my started on the bahn-mi's!! The bowl of pho below could probably bathe a small child in it - just to give you an idea of how large the serving size is - and bonus, it's cheap! I'm such an asian fusion foodie, and I have a feeling that I will be here about every other day now that this cold weather is hitting and my bank account is dwindling...

Meal #5: Serendipity 3

Ok, I know everyone has heard of the oh-so-delicious frozen hot chocolates from Serendipity and being the chocolate fanatic and jealous by nature person that I am, I decided this past Saturday had  to be the day I finally had my frozen hot chocolate fix. Granted I already had a huge brunch two hours earlier and just left a movie theater where I demolished a box of milk duds (Zero Dark Thirty is a MUST see by the way), I apparently found room in my stomach for about 2 cups of whip cream and lord knows how much hot chocolate/sugar. I'm embarrassed to even show the "after" picture, but stil, it was worth every calorie, every dollap of cream, every spoon full of sugar...

So that's all the embarrassing food photos I'm willing to show this week - who knew you could stretch out an entire post just about food you ate in a couple days - looks like I'm pretty special ;)

I absolutely LOVE having visitors like this because you have a good excuse to eat lots of yummy food!

I have heard nothing but good things about 2Amy's. I'm making sure to fit it in next time I get to visit DC.

It's so good! I actually love the appetizers and starter plates more than the actual pizza. Believe it or not, I think PIzza Paradiso actually has better pizza...but don't tell anyone..
